Ornament thief may be at large

A GARDEN ornament thief is at large in Wootton Bassett.

A metal cannon was removed from a garden in Miltons Way

The cannon, valued at £100, was stolen at 2.30pm on April 5.

The theft comes two weeks after a statue of Buddha was stolen from a garden in Marlborough Court.

Sergeant Andy Fortune, of Wootton Bassett police, said: "The two offences could be linked.

"Somebody either carried the cannon away or would have had a vehicle waiting nearby."

He has asked anybody who saw anything suspicious on that day to contact Wootton Bassett police station on 01793 852213.
