Keeping the crafts alive

76913-05A TASTE of traditional country life was on offer in Swindon. Visitors to the Swindon Museum and Art Gallery took a step back in time and got back to basics.

Wood-turning and lace-making demonstrations were held and people were given the chance to try them themselves during the Country Crafts Day on Saturday.

Ursula Edmunds, from the Bath Road museum, said: "It was a very popular event and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. There was a real mix of people who visited, young and old.

"The lace-making seemed to be particularly popular.

"And it meant that people went around the rest of the museum too and saw the different exhibitions we have.

"There were also guided to walks around Town Gardens which were organised by the Swindon Rangers team."
