Community ambulance role is with youngsters

WILTSHIRE St John Ambulance, almost half of whose membership is composed of young people, is looking for a volunteer child protection officer.

The Devizes-based charity runs many courses for people under 18, including their own youth group called the Badgers, and they want to recruit an officer whose job will be to monitor child protection policies across the county.

St John is looking for a volunteer with at least two years' relevant experience of working with young people.

It is also seeking volunteers to take on the positions of health and safety officer, and member support officer.

The health and safety officer would be responsible for ensuring that the charity complies with health and safety requirements for both volunteers and paid staff.

The member support officer is responsible for maintaining and improving the motivation and job satisfaction of unit leaders and volunteers across the county.

The positions are all non- uniformed and unpaid.

Anna Farquhar, Wiltshire St John's executive officer, said: "We are looking for experienced people who are interested in giving something back to the community.

"The time required for each position is not huge, but I would say people should be prepared to give up between one and three days per month to carry out these roles."

Anyone interested can contact Mrs Farquhar on (01380) 728362.
