Sale gives major boost to Kenny's headstone appeal

Highworth market manager Keith Alexander who knew Kenny Brimson 76790-0THE CAMPAIGN to fund a headstone for a Highworth musician has received a £150 boost.

Kenny Brimson, a 60s singer who had a top 30 hit with the Locomotives, was buried in an unmarked grave at Swindon's Whitworth Road Cemetery in 1997.

Keith Alexander, a market manager, read in the Adver last month that Mr Brimson's family are trying to raise money for a headstone.

He organised a stall free of charge at Highworth market on Saturday.

He said: "We've had a good day. We had a massive car boot sale and a big raffle. The raffle was very well supported, and we made a profit of £150.

"We have quite a lot of stuff left over so we'll have another car boot sale in two or three weeks time.

"A lot of people said they had seen the story in the Adver and wanted to support it the cause.

"One of his ex-classmates came and donated £20, which was nice.

"I knew Kenny in his late 30s when he played with a group called Backtrax."

Mr Brimson's widow Marion, 51, and son Liam, 17, were working on the stall.

Marion said: "We're hoping to organise something else, possibly a dance, but we'll probably do more stalls."

The family are hoping to raise £500 for the headstone.
