Almondsbury 2, Westbury United 1

PAUL Brickley admitted his Westbury United are looking tired after he watched them crash to their third consecutive defeat on Friday.

The United boss felt his side should have got something out of the match but said many of his players were already looking ahead to the end of the season.

Brickley's successful start as manager is beginning to fade but he insists there is not too much to worry about.

He said: "It is disappointing that the results have started to drop off again but the players have been involved in a long hard season.

"I am certainly not looking forward to the season finishing but maybe subconsciously some of the players are looking ahead to the summer.

"We looked tired on Friday but we still should have got something from the match because they were not very good either.

Adam Grinter, who scored a hat-trick in Almondsbury's 6-0 win at Meadow Lane earlier in the season, starred again although this time he failed to get on the score sheet.

Grinter went close to giving his side the lead on 15 minutes when his long range effort just flew wide while a few minutes later Lewis Porter saved well from Dan Lane's strike.

Westbury forced their first chance after 20 minutes when Matty Bown brought a fine save out of Scott Kendall while Carl Harfield saw a header cannon of the cross bar.

The hosts broke the deadlock on 51 minutes when Nick Jones slotted the ball into the net from an acute angle after Porter had saved Grinter's initial shot.

Almondsbury doubled their lead on 55 minutes when Lane stole in at the far post to convert Jones' free kick.

Mark Pearce gave Westbury hope on 85 minutes when he headed in Bown's corner but it was not enough to salvage a point.
