Tytherington Rocks 2, Trowbridge Town 3

THE Barnes brothers spelt out treble trouble for Tytherington on Saturday as Trowbridge boosted their Hellenic League Division one title hopes.

Daniel Barnes, Michael Barnes and Adrian Barnes played in the same Trowbridge team for the first time and all played starring roles in this top of the table encounter.

Adrian, 22, who is on an Easter vacation from University in London, had played just once before for Trowbridge and took his place on the substitutes bench.

But within 20 minutes he was called on to replace the injured Ricky Trott and proceeded to score Trowbridge's last two goals after Trott had scored an early opener.

Younger brother Michael, 16, was voted man of the match while Daniel, 20, produced another commanding display at the heart of the defence.

Manager Neil Kirkpatrick, said: "It can't be usual for three brothers to all play in the same team at this level and they all played key roles in the win.

"Adrian really came along just to help us out but he was thrown into things earlier than expected but did brilliantly for us.

"Michael again showed what a brilliant young player he is while I firmly believe that had Dan been available all season we would have won the league already."

Saturday's win leaves the Bees a point clear of Tytherington at the top of the table, with a game in hand, while third placed Shrivenham are just three points behind with a game in hand over Trowbridge.

Kirkpatrick said: "It was a massive win on Saturday but there is no way we can start thinking the hard work is done because there is plenty to play for.

Trott headed home Adam Nunns free kick to give Trowbridge the lead on five minutes and this was nearly doubled when Nunn's shot was turned wide by goalkeeper Dent.

Jimmy Potts equalised for the hosts from the penalty spot on the half hour mark but on 73 minutes Adrian Barnes forced the ball into the net from close range after Dave Percival was screwed across goal.

Seven minutes later, Percival produced a driving run down the right wing and his cross was headed into the net at the far post by Barnes again.

Tytherington refused to give up and pulled a goal back when Potts' 20-yarder flew into the top corner.
