Golf day for cancer care

THE Evening Advertiser's Swindon Cancer Appeal will be brought to the fore in May with a grand fundraising golf day at the prestigious Manor House Golf Club at Castle Combe sponsored by Bloor Homes.

Wiltshire businesses, and companies from further afield, have already lent their support by entering teams in the May 10 event, but more are wanted.

Any companies or groups interested in helping the appeal as it heads for its £1 million target, which will provide full-time permanent cancer care staff for Swindon, are advised to contact the Manor House as soon as possible.

The event promises to be a great golfing day over 27 holes.

It is being sponsored by property developers Bloor Homes and entry is £400 plus VAT for a team of four to take part, inclusive of buggies.

Coffee and bacon rolls will be served before the action starts, with a nine-hole Texas scramble event teeing off proceedings in the morning.

After soup and sandwiches, an 18-hole four-ball better ball event follows in the afternoon, and then a three-course evening meal.

In addition to the main prizes, there will be a nearest the pin and longest drive competition, with the par three 13th being the charity hole.

With a limited field, entry is on a first come, first served basis and the closing date for entries is May 1.

All entry enquiries should be made to The Manor House on 01249 782982.

Anyone interested in offering sponsorship should contact the appeal office on 01793 610636.
