Chance to tuck into tasty Fairtrade products

A FAIRTRADE roadshow is coming to Swindon as part of national Fairtrade fortnight. The roadshow will visit the Co-op Store in High Street, Old Town, on Friday

It will be based in a Mitsubishi 4 x 4 vehicle, sponsored by Motorworld in Oxford.

At the car, Fairtrade staff will be giving out free Fairtrade food and offering items to sample.

Nicky Leech of Oxford, Swindon and Gloucester's Co-op, said: "The Co-op is the strongest retailer supporting Fairtrade in the UK.

"Our roadshow will be a great way to raise the profile of Fairtrade in the UK."

Fairtrade food is food which ensures thousands of poverty-stricken growers and their families can look forward to a better future because they benefit directly from the sale of the food.

Sales of Fairtrade food in Co-op hit £25 million last year.

Co-op stores are the first in the country to stock a range of new Fairtrade products.

Fairtrade fortnight will take place from March 1 to 13. During this time Fairtrade products will be reduced by 20 per cent.
