Bandstand for local musicians

Going Underground next month is a new six-part radio series showcasing local bands and artists.

Daniel Garrett is the presenter of the new show which will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Swindon and Wiltshire from Sunday March 6.

Daniel said: "This is a first for the station and a first for me.

"I hope Underground will raise awareness of the fact that Wiltshire has an amazingly diverse and talented array of bands who are worthy of much greater recognition.

"The next XTC is out there somewhere and we hope to play them on the show.''

Underground will be broadcast from 4pm on Sundays and aims to feature the latest band demos, a guide to the gigs around the area, interviews with bands and acoustic sessions.

Daniel has organised the last three BBC Wiltshire Battle of the Bands competitions and, as a musician himself, keeps his finger on the pulse of local music.
