KWIK-FIT, the car parts and repair chain, would be worth up to £1 billion if it were auctioned off.

CVC Capital, which acquired the business from US motor giant Ford in 2002, is thought to be ready to appoint financial advisors.

There are Kwik-Fit branches in County Road and Great Western Way in Swindon, and in Shrivenham Road, Highworth.
