Youngsters on the museum trail track down a crocodile

76128-02CHILDREN had plenty to look out for at Swindon Museum and Art Gallery during half term.

The museum ran the 'Objects Naturally' holiday trail all last week to give children something extra to do in their half-term break.

Up to 20 children completed the trail each day and museum staff said they really enjoyed it.

"It is another way of getting them to really open up their eyes and think," said museum assistant Richard Gagola.

"It is a learning process as well as something fun for them to do in the holidays."

The youngsters had to follow clues to find objects made from natural materials around the museum.

For example a clue about Fred Flintstone led them to a Stone Age axe made of flint then they followed a clue to the 1940s exhibition to find clothing made from leather.

The trail included all the exhibitions in the museum as well as the art gallery.

At Easter the museum will run a Cheeky Chicks holiday trail from March 24 to April 10. The trails cost £1 and include a small prize.
