Should smoking be banned in pubs?

YOUR SWINDON, YOUR VERDICT: WITH bans on smoking in pubs and restaurants looking increasingly likely over the coming two years it seems that Swindonians almost fully back the idea of no smoking.

In our survey we asked whether smoking should be banned in the town's pubs and restaurants.

Unsurprisingly an overwhelming number said it should.

Just under 70 per cent of you said that smoking should be banned in pubs and restaurants while just 30 per cent said that it shouldn't.

Unfortunately its seems that for those who said no, the tide is already turning against them, with smoking bans already appearing in several places in the borough.

In January, Stratton St Margaret parish council voted to bar the habit in its leisure and community centres, while the Great Western Hospital banned smoking within 10 metres of its buildings.

Next month, pub firm JD Wetherspoons will open its first Lloyds No 1 bar in Greenbridge where smoking will be banned.
