MP Julia opens Julia Drown suite

A SWINDON surgery is celebrating the official opening of a new suite.

The Julia Drown Suite at Taw Hill Medical Practice opened its doors to patients in April.

Ms Drown MP for South Swindon opened the suite.

It was named after her because of her support for the surgery

The new facility is packed with some of the world's most advanced 3-D scanning technology.

Instead of grainy black-and-white scans, parents-to-be can look at incredible colour pictures of their babies. Dr Peter Crouch said the technology, which cost in the region of £70,000, is especially useful for women who have had recurrent miscarriages.

But as well as pregnancies, the ultrasound technology can also be used to check for bladder and kidney problems and testicular cancer.

Dr Crouch added: "We are the only practise in Swindon which offers ultrasound.

"This opens up the opportunity for scans to undertaken in the community."
