Fans of TV show can go to war with robots

FANS of TV's Robot Wars are in for a treat today when the longstanding champions from the series, Team Razer, come to the town.

The team will appear at Robogeddon the world's first mobile robot combat zone by the Brunel Centre at noon.

Three lucky youngsters will also win day passes for trips to Legoland, Windsor, when the team judges the entries received from local schoolchildren who have drawn or designed their own robot.

The TV champions will put their prize-winning Razer robot through its paces in the arena.

And they will be on hand to explain how anyone can begin to build a robot of their own.

Shoppers of all ages will also be able to experience the thrills of Robot Wars at first hand as they take control of four 70kg Cyber-Raptor robots, each equipped with both flipping and self-righting mechanisms, and battle against each other in the 36 square metre Robogeddon combat zone.

The more points people score against their opponents' robots, by ramming or flipping them, the more time they get to play.
