Gullick on verge of league return

LUKE Gullick is set to return to the Biddestone side for tomorrow's relegation tussle at Shepton Mallet.

The 18-year-old winger has been on a four-day trial at Oxford United this week and was expected to play for the League Two side's reserves last night.

Gullick has already spent three years at Southampton's academy and had trials with Bristol City.

He said: "It is my dream to play in the league and I have another good opportunity to do so. It is extremely disappointing when you don't pass trials, but maybe this time I might be successful."

Gullick should learn tonight whether Oxford will give him a professional contract.

Speaking after Wednesday's loss at Larkhall, Biddestone boss Gary Skidmore said: "Luke was a big miss for us tonight. He's got an average of a goal every other game from midfield.

"He's got a big game with Oxford and we wish him all the best. Hopefully he'll be back for us on Saturday.

"In fairness it's getting harder to win as every game goes by. We need to go there and get a win, but definitely not a loss. We need to improve the defensive side of our game on Saturday."

Defender Andy Wileman is an injury doubt for the Shepton match, but otherwise Biddestone should be close to full strength as they bid for only their third victory of the season.
