Buy Camilla's engagement ring for £19!

SWINDON romantics will soon be able to get their hands on a replica engagement ring just like Camilla Parker Bowles's.

The ring, a replica of the one given to Camilla by Prince Charles will go on sale in Asda's two Swindon stores from April 8 the day of the royal wedding at just £19 each.

But Prince Charmings will have to act quickly if they want to impress their girlfriends because there will only be a limited number of the sterling silver and emerald cut fake diamond rings available.

Michael Davey, who is customer services manager at Asda in West Swindon, said: "The ring will certainly get people in to have a look.

"I think it's a novelty thing really."

But he is not sure whether the ring will be a big seller in his store.

"I would say there's a mixed reception to the royals among our customers at the moment."

The ring given to Camilla was once owned by the Queen Mother and is made of platinum with a square central diamond and three diamond baguettes on either side.

Customers who want to splash out a bit more can place an order with Asda for a more upmarket version of the replica, which will have a price tag of £30,000. Made from platinum and three carat diamonds, it will be the most expensive ring stocked by the supermarket chain.

Justine Reid, Asda's jewellery buyer, said: "Camilla's ring is a timeless classic and we want our customers to have a taste of royalty for a fraction of the price.

"We hope that the exclusive Camilla inspired ring will give all budding Prince Charmings the chance to impress their princess this spring and still have change left over for the weekly shop."

There will be just 1,000 of the cheap replica rings made and they will be sold at Asda's 195 jewellery counters in stores across the country.

The Prince of Wales and Camilla will tie the knot in a civil ceremony at Windsor Castle.
