Routine to help reduce fire risk

FIREFIGHTERS from Cricklade Fire Station are urging residents to follow a night time routine to reduced the risk of fires.

They advise that that all electrical appliances should be unplugged and switched off.

All portable heaters should be switched off and unplugged and should be cold before left.

Gas appliances should be checked and properly isolated.

Those with open fires should make sure they have burned down and a spark guard should be put in front of the fire.

Doors should be closed, which would delay the spread of smoke or fire. Candles should be put out, ashtrays emptied and matches and lighters kept well away from children.
