Car and bus collide during driving test

A WOMAN taking her driving test was taken to hospital this morning along with her examiner after an accident at Fleming Way.

PC Paul Fisher, who was at the scene, said the collision involved a Driving Academy school car and a Thamesdown Transport bus.

Firefighters could not confirm the extent of the injuries of either person, but they were conscious and talking.

The roof of the car was cut away by firefighters.

Swindon Station Commander Pete Townsend said: "We used spinal boards as a precaution to stabilise the casualties before they were taken to the Great Western Hospital.

"It looks a lot worse than it is because we had to remove the roof."

The bus driver and the one passenger on board were unhurt.

The accident happened at 10.05am at the roundabout at Fleming Way and Princes Street.

No one from Thamesdown Transport or the Driving Academy in Deburgh Street was available for comment.
