Swindon close in

Although still favourites to take the Division 1 title of the Swindon Indoor Cricket League after an 18-run defeat of Asians 2nd, Swindon cannot relax as close rivals Wootton Bassett and Civil Service remain in hot pursuit.

Liam Tucker, with 31 not out, saw Swindon to a modest total of 113-4, but that ultimately proved too many for Asians 2nd, despite Dassar Rafiq's 31.

Wootton Bassett were unable to capitalise fully on last week's victory over Swindon as they played out a thrilling tied match with Asians. Chasing 98 to win,

Bassett needed one off the last ball, but agonisingly suffered a run-out.

It's not such a happy story for Swindon 2nd, however,.

They are in grave danger of relegation from Division 2 after losing to similarly placed Litten Tree by four runs.

Mark Brown, with an unbeaten 34, and Matthew Bennett (30 not out) were top scorers as Litten Tree totalled 112-3.

Despite a good start, and an unbeaten 28 from James Parkinson, Swindon could not quite sustain their effort.

United Churches have an outside chance of second spot thanks to a two-wicket defeat of Wroughton Wranglers.

Nationwide's hopes of promotion from Division 3 suffered a real blow when they lost to Minety by fourwickets, Tony Gardner's unbeaten 27 anchoring Minety's reply.

Nalgo 3rd pushed Ramsbury nearer to Division 4 by defeating them by 27 runs.

High scoring by each of Nalgo's batsmen enabled them to post 151-1 and despite Ajay Kumar's 58 and Dave Rushen's 41 Ramsbury never really threatened.
