POLICE in Wootton Bassett believe that children may be responsible for two thefts of sweets in the Station Road area of the town.
Confectionery including chocolate bars, tomato ketchup and marzipan logs was stolen from a garage after offenders smashed a small hole in the roof on January 26.
During the previous night, an unsuccessful attempt was made to break into the same premises when a hole was smashed in the roof using a spade.
Sergeant Andy Fortune, of the town's police, said: "We suspect that it is the same people responsible for both incidents. It could be children in the 12 to 15 age range, as it's not a very big hole.
"It's barely big enough for a small person to squeeze through."
The goods taken are valued at £23.
Anyone with any information should contact PC Connor at Wootton Bassett police station on 01793 852213 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
