Tax-free charity lift

CHILDREN'S charity Barnado's South West has called on business to take advantage a new incentive for payroll giving.

From this week small and medium-sized firms will be eligible for a one-off Government payment between £300 and £500, to match employee donations up to £10 a month for six months.

Payroll giving is the most tax-efficient way to give, as any tax that would have been claimed goes to the charity instead. If tax is at the basic rate, the Government will give 28p in £1 and 67p if the tax is at a higher rate.

To find out call Alison England at Barnado's on 0117 941 5841.
