Scheme to ease fears

REGULAR meetings will be held with a housing developer to help ease Wootton Bassett residents' fears over a new build.

Developer Wainhomes has put forward a proposal for land next to Vowley View and Interface Business Park.

Up to 70 houses could be built on the site along with a small extension to the business park.

Residents fear any development on the beauty spot will spoil the local landscape and create traffic chaos.

But Wainhomes say there would be five acres of housing but most of the site would be a 60-acre country park with improved footpath and cycle links, as well as highway improvements to Noremarsh Road.

On Thursday, town councillors are due to set up a working group to review proposals before they undergo public consultation.
