Village on top in the battle ofHarwells

Harwell Village of Division Three caused a huge upset in the North Berks Cup by sending Division One neighbours Harwell International spinning out 3-0.

The Village scorers were Jamie Newport (two penalties) and Neil Smith.

In the other tie, Benson AFC of Division Two won 1-0 at Faringdon Town, with the only goal scored by Ben Curran.

In Division One, Drayton stretched their lead at the top with a 5-0 win at Sutton Courtenay. Danny Curran hit a hat-trick to follow his brace last week against Faringdon, with Darryl Hutt and Adam Godwin also scoring.

In Division Two, second-placed Coleshill United could not break down Shrivenham A and had to be content with a point from a 0-0 draw, while Buckland were held to a 3-3 draw by Lambourn Sports Reserves. Steven Holder (2) and Ben Harrison scored for Buckland, who are threatened with extinction if they cannot find a new ground for next season.

In Division Four, leaders Ardington & Lockinge Reserves needed a goal from young Oliver O'Hanlon to take a point from unbeaten Uffington United in a 1-1 draw.

In Division 5, Stanford-in-the-Vale Reserves won the local derby against Faringdon A, thanks to strikes from Robert Crook, Gary Welsh and Nigel Hill.
