Store owner held in custody on firearm charge

BABY store boss Samual Ackah has been remanded in custody by a judge on a charge relating to a firearm.

The 26-year-old, who runs Cucci Coo in the Brunel Centre, appeared at Swindon Crown Court accused of aggravated burglary.

Ackah, who appeared from custody, is said to have committed the offence at a house in the town on January 2.

He is accused of having a handgun with him when he entered the property without permission and stealing baseball caps.

Ackah, of Lanhydrock Close, Freshbrook, did not speak during the brief hearing but his barrister indicated that his client intended to plead not guilty.

He is next due to appear before the crown court in March when he is expected to formally enter his plea.

Designer store Cucci Coo sells baby wear from labels like Versace, Prada and Moschino and has been open in the town centre arcade for about six months.

Ackah's 28-year-old partner, who is currently six months pregnant with their second child, is running the shop while he is in custody.

Ackah, who has been refused bail, was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned until March 11.
