Still short life

G SCOTT's view (Letters Jan 3) that organic is best for animals, is only correct up to a point.

Animals raised organically may be treated a little kinder, but they will still only be allowed a very short life and end upside down with their throats cut.

In a largely vegetarian world there would not be the millions of farm animals there are now but also there would not be the terrible suffering and mass slaughter of these animals.

As so much less land is needed to feed vegetarians, there would be plenty of space for reserves where animals could live out their lives peacefully.
