Calne take stock after big victory

HIGH-FLYING Calne Town thumped Almondsbury 5-1 to keep up the pressure on Screwfix Direct Division One leaders Radstock Town.

The convincing victory took them to within three points of Radstock but with three games in hand.

"We bounced back and played extremely well after a poor Boxing Day showing against Biddestone," said manager Kelvin Highmore.

"I asked for a response from the players and got it.

"The confidence gained from the win should help us for the big game on Saturday against Willand Rovers."

Calne led Almondsbury 2-1 at half-time thanks to a superb brace from Kevin Banks.

In the second half goals from Glenn Armstrong, Robbie Lardner and Ben Highmore sealed the win.

In the Premier Division, Devizes Town led Hallen 2-1 at half-time but lost 4-2.
