Honey industry threat

HONEY production in Wiltshire could be brought to a sticky end following a vote in the European Parliament this week, according to South West MEP Neil Parish.

The parliament has accepted a report that calls for all honey to contain less than a 0.9 per cent trace of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in order to be regarded as non-GMO.

The recent decision by the British Government to allow commercially grown GM crops in the UK poses a real threat to honey producers, says Mr Parish.
