Interior designer raises curtain

A FORMER cobbler's shop in Devizes Road, Salisbury, has a new look. The shop is now called Sarah Nelson Interiors and sells a range of curtains, screens, lamps, chairs, blinds, pinboards and frames.

The shop has a retail area at the front and a workroom at the back, where the curtains, blinds, screens and pinboards are made.

Sarah Nelson runs the shop, which is owned by her mother-in-law, with her twin sister Amanda Lyles.

Sarah explained: "I have wanted to have my own business for a long time and this was a good opportunity.

"I have been making curtains for friends for a long time, but had never done it as a business.

"I had always wanted a shop because I had so many ideas and this is a great way of showing those ideas."

She said she and her sister, who lives in Salisbury, were very close and worked well together.

"I advise clients I take my fabric books to clients' houses so they can get a good idea of how fabrics will look in their house. We come to a solution, I order the fabric and make up the curtains, which Amanda helps me with.

"We also make pinboards, laundry bags and screens. A lot of people have come into the shop and said it's nice to have a shop like this in Salisbury the feedback has been very positive," Sarah said.
