Local unions back anti-BNP campaign

Swindon unions are backing a campaign to stop the British National Party winning election seats this summer.

Yesterday we told how the TUC has put together a special booklet which they say will explode the lies and misconceptions on asylum seekers and expose the racism behind the BNP.

Kevin Branstatter, the regional organiser for the GMB union, said a similar campaign was already under way in Swindon.

He said: "People are being asked to support the GMB, the Race Equality organisation and other unions and community groups.

"Our focus is going to be the European and local elections and we are going to do everything possible to stop BNP candidates being elected across the South West."
