A hat-trick for Micky as Shrews hit six

THE first of two long journeys west ended in success for Shrewton United, who secured an impressive 6-2 victory away in North Devon at Ilfracombe Town.

Micky Brownless grab-bed a hat-trick as the Shrews continued their fine end of season form.

The home side piled on the pressure at the start of the game but could not get themselves on the scoresheet. United broke the deadlock through Brown-less' powerful strike.

He added his second from close range following good work down the right wing by Micky Ball.

Jess Walters pounced to make it 3-0 after the Ilfra-combe 'keeper mis-judged the bounce but the home side reduced the arrears just before the interval.

But any hopes of a come back were dashed when Brownless completed his hat-trick in the opening exchanges of the second half after Dean Foot's precise pass.

Ilfracombe added another before Walters grabbed his second of the game and Danny Weston came off the bench to score his first goal for the club, sealing a comfortable victory for the Shrews.

United travel west again on Saturday to face Mine-head before completing their travels with a trip to Cadbury Heath on Wednesday.
