Green standard demanded

COMPANIES wanting to supply goods and services to Southern Electric will now have to toe the green line.

Southern Electric has signed up to a system called Verify, which will assess the environmental commitment of all potential suppliers.

Lead director for the environment David Sigsworth said: "Using the Verify system will allow us to assess the environmental standards of potential suppliers and contractors and help us make informed decisions about whom we want to work with.

"This will back up our current work on helping existing suppliers improve their green performance."
