Microlight store

Redlands Farm has been granted permission to continue storing microlight aircraft in a barn, alongside hay and straw.

The farm, in Wanborough, has been keeping its microlights in the barn for 18 months, but applied for permission to regularise usage.

Local residents against the microlight club said the aircraft are very noisy and that aircraft should not be stored in an area likely to attract vermin.

But those in support of the club said that it adds a unique sports and leisure facility providing tourism and revenue for Swindon, and that people enjoy watching the microlights.

The airfield has been in use for a number of years for microlight aircraft and planning permission was granted in January 2001 for the site to be used as a parachuting club.
