DOWNTON won for the first time since February with Matt Guy's late goal proving decisive against BAT Sports.
The victory lifted the Robins off the bottom of the table at the expense of Whitchurch United.
Jon Nash missed a good chance and Mark Savage hit the upright, before Guy sealed the points by getting between the BAT goalkeeper and a defender and lofting the ball into an empty net three minutes from time.
Boss Mitch Blake said: "We created the better chances, although Jon Burton made one of the best saves you are ever likely to see in the Wessex League and I still don't know how he turned it over the bar."
Downton lost 2-0 at Fareham Town on Tuesday night, letting in the only goals they have conceded in the last three matches.
Robins' next game is against local rivals Bemerton Heath Harlequins at Wick Lane on Easter Monday (11am).
Neal Archer, Mark Gulliver, Dan Lumber and Ben Smith will all return from suspension but Rob Trim starts a two-match ban.
"Bemerton gave us a lesson in the Wilts Senior Cup, but it depends who is more up for it on the day," said Blake.
