POLICE have had a disappointing response to an appeal for help in tracking down the man who sexually assaulted a 12-year-old in Toothill.
Officers spoke to residents and passers-by in Folly Park last Thursday two weeks after the attack happened in an attempt to jog their memories.
The attack happened as the girl was sitting alone in the park between 6pm and 6.30pm on March 18.
Swindon police spokeswoman Alvina Kumar said: "There has been a disappointing response to press appeals for witnesses so far.
"And despite officers speaking to about 30 people exactly two weeks after the alleged assault, they were not able to gain any new lines of enquiry. The investigation continues and we reiterate our appeal for witnesses to get in touch.
"All calls will be treated in strict confidence."
The attacker, who ran off towards Beaulieu Close, was about 5ft 9in, thin, in his early 30s, clean shaven, and had short, dark hair.
He had a mark or cut on his right cheek.
His front teeth were distinctive and he had markings, possibly a tattoo, on his hand.
He wore a dark green jumper with a sport motif on the collar and black, Army style boots with rubber studs.
Anyone with any further information about the incident is asked to get in contact with the Swindon police by telephoning 01793 528111.
