Marathon to be run in memory of niece

BULFORD soldier Sergeant Major Peter Reed has never forgotten his little niece Amber, who had cerebral palsy and was just ten-years-old when she died.

This year he is running his third London Marathon on Sunday, April 18 in aid of Mencap, the charity that helped his niece through her short life.

Peter (33) and his running partner, Sergeant Major Andrew Lothian (35), will be running the marathon in army boots and with 40lb bergens on their backs.

"The world record for running a marathon with a 40lb bergen is four hours 14 minutes," said Peter.

"We don't expect to beat it but we aim to be as fast as possible."
