WILTSHIRE soldier Rab Lundie is about to take on the toughest race on earth as he prepares to run 157 miles across the vast tracts of the Sahara Desert in North Africa.
Mr Lundie, 33, serves with the 29 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps, is taking part in the Marathon des Sables in aid of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance appeal.
The race is a true test of endurance. Runners are totally self-sufficient, carrying all their food and equipment with them. Water is rationed to eight litres a day. The run takes place over six days, beginning on April 11.
