Buses must set off earlier to avoid Swindon rush

TRAFFIC congestion in Swindon has led to changes being made to the Trans Wilts Express No 49 bus.

The bus runs from Trowbridge to Swindon via Devizes. The changes, which come into effect next month, are the first since the service was launched four years ago. The bus is funded by the county council.

Under the changes, buses from Trowbridge after 8am will leave five minutes earlier at 35 minutes past the hour rather than 40 minutes past, and the bus will leave Devizes at five past the hour rather than ten past.

Transport bosses say it now takes longer to get into Swindon so buses need to leave earlier.

Departure times from Swindon have not changed.

A new Trans Wilts Express leaflet will be delivered to households along the route from the middle of March.

The new leaflet will be available in tourist information centres and libraries at the same time.

The service carries 16,000 passengers per month.

Timetables showing the changes are now available on the bus and can also be obtained by ringing the Wiltshire Bus Enquiry Line on 08457 090 899 or emailing buses@wiltshire.gov.uk
