ELEVEN girls from the Godolphin School, Salisbury, will be contributing £1,200 to a London marathon runner's efforts for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The sixth-form girls raised the money on Wednesday, December 17, when they spent most of the day singing Christmas carols in the city's Old George Mall - and were stunned by the generosity of so many people.
The money will go towards the fundraising of Luke Watson, who will be running in aid of the cancer charity in the London Marathon on April 18.
Luke (19) is a former pupil of Westwood St Thomas School, Salisbury, and is now at Loughborough University. The girls who sang carols all day were Jessica Broad, Kat Barnes, Georgina Wood, Laura Fountain and Annie Masters.
The girls holding the collection boxes were Steph Milsom, Lucy Coleman, Emily Woolcombe Adams, Lucy Ledingham, Effie Reeve and Alice Bentinck.
Jessica Broad said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to all who contributed and would like to wish Luke the very best of luck in the Marathon in April."
