Show of strength from newcomers

Matt Ryan gained a gold in patterns and a silver in heavyweight sparring at the Great Britain South West Tae Kwon Do Championships. DA4946P3AMESBURY Tae Kwon Do students picked up a host of medals when they competed in the South West Championships, held in Salisbury.

Despite the fact that many members were inexperienced in regional-level competition, the club made a good showing and has a full trophy cabinet to show for its efforts.

Among the winners were Matt Ryan, who won gold for blue belt men's patterns and silver for heavyweight sparring, Claire Jackson, who took gold for yellow belt ladies sparring and Nick Hobden, who picked up silver for green belt men's heavyweight sparring.

Constance Eyre and Megan Lybert picked up fourth placings in red and green belt ladies patterns in their very first competition.
