Designers sponsor rugby

EDWARD Thomas Design & Display is now sponsoring the Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew rugby team's man of the match trophy.

The graphics and exhibition business is led by Ed Thomas, who was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002 for his development of the national Displayer franchise network in the annual Chamber of Commerce awards.

Mr Thomas said that he used to play rugby, but had now given up, preferring to watch from the touchline.

His brother, Dave, plays for the Wheats, who have their base at the Wheatsheaf pub in the Woodford Valley and play at Salisbury Livestock Market.

Mr Thomas said: "I have followed their fortunes for some time.

"They are supported by the pub itself and Hall & Woodhouse, and I thought it would be nice to give an award each match to the best player.

"At the end of the season we will engrave the cup with the name of the person who has won the man of the match title the most times."

Turning to his own business, on Harnham Trading Estate, he said: "Like the Wheats we strive to get the best result in the most straightforward way using all our skills and experience.

"We believe that in the field of creative design and display we have a team of winners."
