An organic farm is to sell bacon butties from a catering van up and down the country in an attempt to raise the profile of its Bishopstone business.
Eastbrook Farms Organic Meat, the UK market leader in branded organic pork products, has been awarded £15,000 to promote its food at about 40 agricultural, countryside, sports and cultural events throughout the year.
The events will include a series of concerts during July with the National Trust, and motor sports and horse racing on the Goodwood Estate.
Eastbrook's van, known as The Flying Pig, will offer products such as bacon sandwiches, burgers and sausages.
It is hoped the project will increase demand for UK organic pork by at least 100 pigs per week, and generate an additional 1,000 tonnes of grain usage.
Helen Browning, who runs Eastbrook Farm, and sells its products to Sainsbury's, Morrison's, and the Co-op, said: "The Flying Pig is the first national organic mobile event, and this year will see its official launch at Badminton and National Trust concerts.
"I love putting good food into people's mouths, and in future we would love to do more local events around Swindon and north Wiltshire towns and villages."
Eastbrook's grant was awarded by the Home Grown Cereals Authority as part of its Enterprise Award, and covers a two-year promotional period.
Managing Director Tim Finney said: "Our business is driven by the desire to provide the customer with the highest quality products, boldly branded.
"This award will help us to continue to do just that."
Julian Gibbons, chairman of the awarding body's market development committee, said: "The company has made a significant contribution in developing the market for organic pork, and this initiative will undoubtedly help to drive further growth in this sector."
