Sean so keen to sign

SEAN O'HANLON is desperate to complete a permanent switch from Everton to Swindon Town and the defender wants a speedy conclusion to talks between the two clubs.

The 21-year-old scored his first senior goal in Town's 2-0 victory over Chesterfield on Saturday and the youngster is keen to celebrate that landmark by penning a permanent contract at the County Ground.

He said: "I have been at Everton since I was 10 and it's time to move on.

"I think signing for Swindon will be a step forward in terms of my career.

"I just want to see everything sorted sooner rather than later so I can completely concentrate on the football."

O'Hanlon, who signed on for a second loan month, after Saturday's win, said: "I'm enjoying my football and I'd like to think I've taken my chance.

"As for the goal, their defender has switched off and I've managed to get in and head it past the keeper.

"That's one goal in five appearances. That's almost prolific for a defender.

"Hopefully there'll be a few more during my career."

The transfer has yet to go through, with a side issue thought to be the sticking point.

On the eve of the Spireites clash, manager Andy King said it was a 'matter of tying up a deal that involves something else' and that the ins and outs of the situation would become clear this week.

He said: "I've said enough on the issue. The boy's performances speak for themselves.

"Terms are not in favour of us at the moment but the quicker we sign him the better."

Meanwhile, King has urged his players to seize the chance for success as they never know when it might come within their grasp again.

He said: "You don't get many opportunities in your career.

"My players have an opportunity to taste it.

"They are in a position now to achieve what would be a wonderful success in reaching the play-offs, or perhaps better.

"From the position they've worked themselves into, they can throw it away.

"But they look confident and committed, are a decent side and want what's touchable."
