Care staff working together

HEALTH care in Warminster is at the centre of a major shake-up in a bid to bring all specialists together under one roof.

West Wiltshire Primary Care Trust has announced they are bringing together health workers and social care staff in an attempt to improve communication.

The policy of integration will see the health visiting team move to the Beckford Centre and mental health specialists will be housed at the Warminster Family Health Centre. The former Ward 2 at Warminster Community Hospital will now be used as an out-patient unit and a facility for group meetings.

Hilary Fairfield, director of services, said: "Our aim is to bring together our expertise by placing professional teams together as far as possible in the same buildings instead of having them spread about in various locations struggling with the communication difficulties that can bring."

The moves began on Friday.
