Dynamo's cup bid runs out of power

TROWBRIDGE LEAGUE: DYNAMO West End went out of the A and B Cup, beaten 5-1 by Division One rivals The Deverills in a controversial tie in the Pied Piper Promotions-sponsored competition.

The Deverills, ahead through Mark Harris at the break, had regained the lead through Aaron Stevens following a Nathan Mantle equaliser when they were awarded a free kick in the penalty area.

The incident, which included a red card for Dynamo's Trevor Jones, eventually led to Brett Ball firing home. Stevens and Ball added further strikes to secure Deverills a semi-final tie with Rudloe.

Darren Carter also saw red. His 40th minute dismissal came when Apetito were holding Division Three leaders Seend Reserves. But 10-men Apetito, conceding two goals in the first four minutes of the restart, were sunk by a Rob O'Harrow hat-trick with singles from Chris Bishop, Paul Black, Wayne Painter and Graham Pearce taking Seend through 7-0 and a semi-final date with Semington Magpies.

A 7-0 win for Broughton Gifford Reserves takes them into tomorrow's second leg of the Taylor Kitchens and Bedrooms-sponsored Division Two cup against Lavington and Easterton having all but booked a semi-final spot against Hilperton United. A Wayne Bailey hat-trick, two from Ian Johnson, a Joe Symes single and an own goal destroyed the bottom side.

In the Premier Training International-sponsored league, Bradford United kept their sights on hot Division Two promotion favourites, the 2-1 home win over Dursley Arms far more conclusive than the scoreline suggests.

Paul Farion's 33rd minue free kick gave Arms a shock interval lead before two goals from Ryan Mortimer, including a free kick, gave Bradford the points.

A brace from Tarick Yachou and one from Ross Pike clinched Hilperton their first double at the expense of Westbury United A who paraded 14-year-old Nathan Taylor in goal. A rare strike from Mark Nickels brought Westbury a consolation goal in a 3-1 defeat.

Several teams have already tipped Semington Magpies for honours next term with FC Northbridge becoming the latest outfit as the Division Three title race was blasted wide open by Jamie McDine's first half header giving Magpies a 1-0 win. Title hopefuls Northbridge wasted chances, but Magpies could have had more themselves.

Bromham and Rowde fought out a goal-less draw.

Division One title rivals Broughton Gifford and Rudloe proved too strong in the second half for their opponents, the former with two early first half efforts from Chris Stiles, beating leaders Heytesbury 5-1.

Rudloe made it eight straight wins though Blue Circle did well to hold out in the first half. A hat-trick from Russell Gibbings, to take his tally to 17, two from Simon Gray and a Matt Dancey strike gave Rudloe a 6-1 victory. Shaun Sheppard replied for the basement side.

Seend, without a win in five successive meetings against Freshford, deservedly shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
