King scores to keep Shaw in the hunt

NORTH WILTS YOUTH LEAGUE: TOP match of the day was in Group B of the under 16s subsidiary cup where the two leading teams, Liden Community and Shaw A met.

In a tight match a solitary second- half goal from Mark King for Shaw was enough to separate the two sides. Shaw go level at the top of the group and it will be these two teams that will be expecting to progress to the knockout stages.

In Group A it was honours even at Ballards Ash, where Wootton Bassett Town and Cirencester Juniors shared four goals. Tom James hit both goals for Wootton Bassett.

Shaw B went four points clear at the top of the group after a 6-0 home win over Malmesbury. Shaw scorers were Dan Hiscocks with a hat-trick, Adam Legg, Kristian Howell and Scott Scanlon.

Under 15s Division

IT was a typical game of two halves at Ferndale Rodbourne, where Wootton Bassett Town were the visitors.

Despite a lot of Ferndale pressure, Bassett defended well, only to go one down just before half-time to a soft goal.

A well-taken equalising penalty by Danny Dhillon came 10 minutes into the half after Rob Curtis was clumsily taken down en route to goal.

Kyle Brookes was outstanding in defence for Wootton Bassett.

Under 14s Subsidiary Cup

THERE was a surprise at Shaw where the visitors Blunsdon Colts came away from Chestnut Springs with a 3-2 victory, courtesy of goals from Liam Keville, Chris Broley and Levi Cox. Shaw scorers were James Baker and Tom Holmes.

Stratton Youth carried their league form over into the Subsidiary Cup with a comprehensive 9-0 win away at Juventus. Leigh Schvartz hit a hat-trick, Kane Outram and Paul Horton two apiece, and one each for Aaron Cushion and Hallam Nash.

Under 14s Division One

WESTBROOK went a step closer to being crowned Division One champions with a comprehensive 8-0 win at Croft.
