Ref. 29129-50A 13-STRONG team of Nationwide workers left their offices and went back to school yesterday.
The gang spent the day painting and putting up colourful new curtains at Drove Primary School so children will come back on Monday to a brighter building after the half-term holiday.
Nationwide, based in Piper's Way, raised more than £850 for the mini-project through a series of charity nights, including a sponsored leg wax, quiz nights and a raffle.
Several local firms also got in on the act, by donating prizes.
Headteacher Nick Capstick will be examining the new look later today.
Sarah Moore, who works in the personnel, planning and development department, reckons he will be pleased. "We got a lot of work done and it was a valuable team-building exercise," she said.
"After speaking to Mr Capstick it was decided that we would concentrate on the school hall, which didn't have any curtains.
"Schools often don't have the cash to spend on decoration. We just wanted to make the place a bit brighter for the children to learn in."
