TOWN chief executive Mark Devlin has warned the club's players that off the field misdemeanours will not be tolerated after Jon Stevenson appeared in court for a nightclub fracas in Bournemouth.

And, Stevenson, pictured, was conspicuous by his absence at Town's reserve clash with Swansea at the County Ground yesterday.

The 21-year-old was at Bournemouth Magistrates where he pleaded guilty to causing threatening, abusive and disorderly behaviour at Elements nightclub in the early hours of January 18.

He is now bracing himself for a second grilling in 48 hours when he returns to the County Ground to discover whether he will face any disciplinary action from the club.

Devlin refused to comment directly on the Stevenson case but insisted that off-field misbehaviour will not be tolerated.

He said: "From the club's point of view we do not want our players getting into any off-the-field trouble.

"Each case would be assessed on its individual merits and, until I've sat down with the player and the manager, I can't really comment any further.

"But if we feel a player's behaviour is inappropriate we will act accordingly."

Stevenson was fined £100 and ordered to pay £34 costs following his arrest under Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986.

Prosecutor Lisa Dytham said Stevenson was ejected from Elements nightclub at 3am on January 18 this year.

She told the court Stevenson refused to leave the club and had to be physically carried out by the door staff.

He became aggressive and abused the police officers.

Dytham added: "Officers pushed him back, he was clearly drunk."

She said Stevenson told the officers: "What are you going to do? What are you going to arrest me for?

"You can't do anything because I know my rights."

Stefani Miglioranzi had a precautionary X-ray yesterday after spraining his ankle in the 4-2 win at Stockport.

Club physio Dick Mackey admits the midfielder faces a race against time to be fit for the visit of Chesterfield on Saturday but a recovery is 'not impossible'.

David Duke will almost certainly be fit despite taking a knock to the calf.

The Scot should return to training later this week.
