Ferris takes Ciren role

Cirencester have appointed New Zealander Myles Ferris as their new coach.

Former Gloucester and England A player Brian Johnson was forced to leave the club mid-season, due to increased work commitments, and the Gloucestershire Premier Division club have now appointed former North Harbour front row Ferris as his replacement.

Ferris has more recently been a player-coach at the Northlands club side, and has also coached youth and women's rugby.

The Kiwi is currently teaching at Headlands School, Swindon, having moved over with his family on an initial two-year posting.

And he faces a difficult task with the Ciren side, bottom of the Gloucestershire Premier Division, and having lost 72-0 to leaders Cheltenham North on Saturday.

The club, though, are now on the up in terms of playing strength, and are now fielding three teams regularly.

Anyone interested in joining the club should contact club captain Chris Thorn on 01285 644840.
