Mixed bag for Swindon nines

Swindon's under nines experienced mixed fortunes in Oxford.

Against Oxford Harlequins Swindon lost 4-2, their consolation tries from Sam Williams, and against Witney Swindon won 5-1, Sam Williams again scoring a double, with other tries from Jack Kimber (2) and Declan Thomas.

Swindon Under 11s ran out 14-7 winners in their match against Witney.

In a hard-fought game, both teams defended well, before Swindon broke through with a first-half try and conversion from Tim Berry.

Berry went over again, a try converted by Kierstin Baddeley, to seal Swindon's win.

The side also edged out Quins by a narrower 7-5 margin.

Luke Dicks grabbed the visitors' try, with Baddeley kicking the all-important conversion.

Against Melksham's Cooper-Avon Tyres, Swindon under sevens drew 7-7 and won 5-2. Josh Lee scored five tries in the first match, Iuean Whelan witth two, and James Easton bagged a hat-trick and Whelan two tries in the later win.

The under eights also won 6-5 against Cooper-Avon, the scores from Mathew McCluskie (3), Cameron Fraser, Josh Lee and Callum Smith.
