Can't help falling in love with your food

Ref. 29064-08TRAINEE chefs at Swindon College donned their aprons to cook up food fit for a king.

The students held an Elvis night, with real deadlines and real customers and calorie-heavy treats that had their guests all shook up with the taste.

The 18 students had to think of ideas for the Elvis theme set by lecturer Paul Kelly who donned the Blue Suede Shoes for the night and the evening was designed to test the youngster's ability to adapt recipes.

On the menu was an array of tasties including A Big Hunk O'Hunk, O'Apple Pie served with cream. Mr Kelly said: "It's about giving the students room to explore. They are the cookbooks of the future.

"They've done extremely well and the quality of the food was high. They have progressed really quickly."

Student Dale Smith, 17, of Beech Avenue in Pinehurst, certainly enjoyed himself.

He said: "It's great experience for when we eventually start work in restaurants.

"Sometimes the pressure can get a bit much

"This is why you need to work as a team, which is what we did tonight.

"When you have a load of orders on you rely on fellow chefs to help you out."
